The January 2013 transfer window only opened four days ago, but it is safe to say that the media is rife with transfer rumours across Britain and Europe!

Clubs have 27 more days to reshape and strengthen their squads with players that they feel can help them achieve 'comparative' success, whether they are chasing trophies, eyeing up promotion or bidding to avoid relegation.

With purse strings being pulled ever increasingly tighter by the owners of many clubs, perhaps the loan market will play a more significant role than ever in this winter window!

With the climax of the 2012 European Championships upon us, clubs will have been studying with interest the performance of many of the players who have participated in the tournament.

In addition there has been a lot of media talk regarding the buying and selling of players since the close of last season. Now with player contracts expiring in just 48 hours a frenetic six weeks lies ahead, before the new English football season kicks-off, as players and their agents will officially be allowed to approach or be approached by clubs regarding their availability.

It is pretty safe to say that if a player’s contract expires on the 30th June, and they have not been offered or negotiated a new deal with their current club, then they will be officially ‘on the market’ and looking for pastures new to pursue their careers.

With the European Championships only a couple of weeks away and the Olympics to follow, it would seem that clubs across Europe are keen to do as much business as possible before these tournaments begin. It is in their interests to make their moves early and get any new players on board as quickly as possible, so the players have longer to settle in. All the latest Transfer Gossip across Europe


With the January transfer window closing next Tuesday, there has plenty of talk of possible 'big name' transfers, but little in the way of action so far this month!
The only big money transfer of note was the predicted move of Bolton's Gary Cahill to Chelsea for £7million. Meanwhile there are also lot of loan deals in the pipeline, but can the players, their agents and the clubs agree terms before the transfer window shuts!

After a busy week in Europe, as the final Champions League group games were completed, and with the traditionally busy Christmas fixture list on the horizon, clubs across Europe are hard at work as they plan ahead for the second-half of the season.

Players will come and go in January, as clubs wheel and deal in the transfer window. There are numerous reasons why clubs and players move in the New Year. Some clubs may be be strapped for cash, others may be struggling in their respective leagues while others may boast an array of injured players and feel the need to freshen up their squads. Players themselves on the other hand may find they are surplus to requirements, maybe they are not playing on a regular basis for their clubs or have fallen out with their boss. They may also be out of contract in the summer and need to find a new club, or perhaps they are quite simply looking for more money!

Chelsea have signed defender David Luiz from from Benfica for a fee of £21 million.

Liverpool have signed Andy Carroll from Newcastle for £35 million on a five-and-a-half-year deal.

Chelsea have signed Fernando Torres from Liverpool on a five-and-a-half-year deal for a fee of £50 million.

Blackpool sign Sergei Kornilenko on loan from Zenit St Petersburg.

Wigan have confirmed the signing of striker Conor Sammon on a three-and-a-half-year deal from Kilmarnock.

Fulham sign Eidur Gudjohnsen on loan from Stoke until the end of the season.

Huddersfield have signed 31-year-old striker Danny Cadamarteri until the end of the season.

Hibs have confirmed the signing of striker Akpo Sodje from Charlton on an 18-month deal.

MK Dons sign youngster Keanu Marsh-Brown on loan from Fulham.

Scunthorpe have signed Norwich defender Michael Nelson for an undisclosed fee.

Tottenham's Giovani Dos Santos has joined Spanish side Racing Santander on loan until the end of the season.

All The Latest Transfer Gossip


With the January transfer window less than two weeks away, rumours are rife both at home and abroad as Clubs look to reinforce their squads in an attempt to secure the services of new players for various reasons.
Some managers jobs may be on the line as a result of their teams failure to meet pre-season expectations, whether they were trophy or survival driven. There are unhappy players, owners and fans across Europe, and of course we are in the middle of an global economic recession.

Do clubs have the money to sign new players in an attempt to achieve their goals? Are clubs willing to risk putting themselves into debt in order to fund transfers and players salaries?

Whatever the situation, which varies hugely from club to club the transfer rumour mill is really hotting up!

It is interesting to note that there are some players that look certain to be on the move in January, but their destinations seem to vary according to the source of the rumour!
