PIXAR WEEK: Anyone Can Cook!

Pixar Movie #8
Ok, this is probably my LEAST favorite Pixar movie.
Not that it's BAD or anything.
On the contrary, it's EXCELLENT.
And I liked it a lot too.
Just that I didn't like it as much as the rest.



It's the one movie I don't feel an urge to watch when it's on.
Not sure exactly why.
Maybe I just didn't relate to the whole Paris thingy.
Or maybe it's because the characters are icky RATS.



I did like the food though.
And I think if they ever did a sequel,
They should come base it in MALAYSIA.
Forget all that hoighty-toighty French food.
Imagine that... a HAWKER RAT,
Going up against Remy the Parisian cook.
AWESOME!



But one thing I remember about the movie,
Is its ending.
Or more specifically, Anton Ego's final review.
In which he says, "The work of a critic is easy."
"We thrive on negative criticism, which is fun to write and to read."
"But... in the grand scheme of things...
"the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism."



It made me think about the reviews I myself write,
And whether anyone cares what I say,
Or whether my opinions are too bias or too negative.
Because negative reviews ARE more fun to write.
But one man's Cars is another man's WALL-E.
Sooo, to all of you who loved Ratatouille...

PIXAR WEEK: Float Like a Cadillac, Sting Like A Beemer!

Pixar Movie #7.
I don't care what everyone says.
I LOVED Cars.
It's my FOURTH favorite Pixar movie!
Didn't bother?
Your loss.
Hah!



It's not GREAT like the other Pixar movies,
But it's still GOOD and ENTERTAINING.
I've watched it a MILLION times.
AND bought the die-cast cars as well!
I can't WAIT for CARS 2!!!



Ok, Mater's a little annoying at first.
But he grows on you the more you watch him.
But I can't really stand those Car-Toons he's in though.
I want more GUIDO and LUIGI!
And more of the Radiator Springs gang!
I could do with less Lightning McQueen though.
He's more annoying than Mater.



I love how they reflected our real world in Cars format.
All the usual ordinary day things,
Gas stations, stadiums, Mexican waves,
Courtrooms, hippies, tattoos,
It takes everything cars have,
and apply them to human life.
It's a brilliant concept, if you ask me



It's a bit silly at times (cars have TONGUES????)
And it really isn't as memorable as the other Pixars.
But it's charming, funny, and utterly enjoyable.
The scene with the song My Town always makes me sad.
Plus it's got the most brilliant extra scenes in the credits ever.
It's got Ratzenberger making fun of himself!
Brilliant!



Sure, the story is a bit ho-hum.
But it's a great fantasy world.
A world with only cars,
Though it does beg the question.
Er. who MADE those cars?
And how do they make BABY cars?
Errrrrr....



Cars is really under-rated if you ask me.
The most under-rated of all the Pixar movies.
And no matter what the adult film critics say,
The KIDS love this.
It's a pure, innocent FUN movie.
And the toys sell like hot cakes.
Why else would they make a CARS 2?

PIXAR WEEK: Spoiled, Stupid Little Stick Figures With Poofy Lips!

Pixar Movie #6.
My SECOND favorite one ever!
I've watched THIS one a MILLION times,
In the cinema, on DVD, in the plane...
And I NEVER get sick of it!



Yes, their powers are almost like the Fantastic Four,
Almost a rip-off, in fact.
But this movie has more heart,
And more entertainment than those two stupid live action FF movies.
And I never really liked the FF in the comics anyway.



My personal favorite part is the jungle chase.
Where the bad guys are chasing Violet and Dash.
The part where Dash runs across the water,
And then starts giggling cheekily,
Never fails to get me smiling.
And then when he and Violet combine powers.
Now THAT is one unstoppable force!



It's also got my THIRD favorite character of all,
EDNA MODE.
Her monologues about capes (NO CAPES!)
Her rant to a whining Elastigirl (PULL. YOURSELF. TOGETHER!)
Her intro of the costumes (loved the little model baby crawling thru FIRE)
And the security access to her lab (EdNA Mode... and guest)
AND her description of SUPERMODELS (HAH! Nothing super about them!)
She's FARNY.



If you watch the DVD,
There's also a short animated flick called JACK JACK ATTACK!
It's about the cute little baby,
Who turns into a cute little monster when he's mad.
Go watch it, it's KIIIUUTTTT.



I only found the bad guy annoying though.
Wanted to slap him.
But other than that it's all good.
Ooooh, and Frozone's cool too!
Sam L. Jackson wtf!



Never mind Fantastic Four.
Forget Spider-man and Superman.
THIS is probably one of the most entertaining superhero movies EVER.
Except for The Dark Knight of course.
But that's a different film altogether...

PIXAR WEEK: Just Keep Swimming, Just Keep Swimming Swimming Swimming...

Finding Nemo.

Pixar Movie #5
My THIRD favorite Pixar movie EVER.
And probably the one that really made me a fanboy.
I must've watched this 7-8 times in the cinema alone...
And god knows how many more times on DVD.



I've never really liked Ellene DeGeneres.
But she (or rather, her voice) was BRILLIANT in Nemo.
Dory is my SECOND favorite Pixar character EVER!
There are so many brilliant quotes from her here.
In fact, ALL the best quotes are hers.
Even the whale-speak bits.
I especially love that song she sings:
Just keep swimming, just keep swimming...



There are so many great characters in the movie.
The 'vegetarian' sharks, Nigel the pelican,
The school of fish who do impersonations (Ratzenberger WTF!)
The Tank Gang (HA HOO HA HI HA HO HO HO)
And of course, CRUSH the surfer dude turtle.
Voiced by Andrew Stanton himself!



About the only thing NOT so memorable were the lead characters.
But they at least provided the drama and emotion.
Which was complemented nicely,
By all the other fun characters,
And all the fun dialogue.
This movie was so much fun,
That I feel like watching it again. Like NOW.

PIXAR WEEK: Put That Thing Back Where It Came From Or So Help Me!

Monsters Inc.
Not A Review.
Pixar Movie #4
Directed by Pete Docter.
yes, the guy who directed Up as well.
Which is coming out August 20, NEXT WEEK BTW.
GO WATCH IT.



Monster! I love monsters.
Even when they're so cuddly and funny.
Yeah, no scary monsters here.
Even though they DO scare kids for electricity.
But they're not actually scary. Not really.
That blue furry guy so cuddly how to be scary lar!



Though that one eye dude IS scary.
If I saw him in a dark alleyway I'd be scared too.
I mean LOOK at him.
He's ONE BIG GREEN EYEBALL. WITH LEGS!
Would be REALLY scary.
If it wasn't Billy Crystal voicing him.
Now he's just FUNNY.



The bad guys are just so-so though.
But that Door Chase is just AWESOME.
I STILL remember watching it in the cinema,
The whole roller-coaster feeling,
It's easily one of the most exciting Pixar finales yet!



The little kid also damn cute.
Apparently they followed someone's kid around with a mike,
Just to get her voice and her saying BOO!
And KITTY! And MAIK WAZASKI.
Oh, and That MUSICAL in the end
"Put that thing back where it came from or so help meeee"
So FARNEEEEEEE!



Of the ten Pixars so far, I rate this one number.... SIX.
I still watched it like ten times already though.
And I'm thrilled that they're gonna make a Monsters Inc TWO!
Woohoo!
More Mike!
More Sully!
No more Boo I bet though. :-(

PIXAR WEEK: Ride Like The Wind, Bullseye!

Toy Story 2.
Not A Review.
Pixar Movie #3.
Almost consigned to Straight-To-DVD Hell
Until John Lasseter rescued it,
And turned it into one of the best sequels EVER.



I have to admit, the Toy Story movies were never my favorites,
But I do like them a lot.
And I prefer Toy Story 2 over Toy Story 1.
Mostly because it's about toy COLLECTING.
Ok, so the toy collector here is a bad guy,
But I could RELATE to the obsession.
Hee hee.



The Roundup Gang was a brilliant idea too.
Especially the addition of Jessie and Bullseye.
Jessie's Song is one of the saddest moments in any Pixar movie.
And I can never get over seeing Bullseye chasing that plane. LOL.
Stinky Pete I could leave without though.
I wouldn't even buy his toy.
I'd leave him to be a shelf-warmer.



The rest of the gang also got a lot more time.
Mr. And Mrs. Potatohead! (I'm packing your ANGRY Eyes)
Slinky! Hamm! Rex!
More Buzz Lightyears! (Was I really THAT deluded)
The 3-eyed aliens! (You have saved our lives... we are eternally gratefulll)
My favorite part was them crossing the road.
BEST. ROAD. CROSSING. EVAR.



Barbie Dolls! (They turned down the FIRST movie, FYI)
Emperor Zurg! (No Buzz. I AM your FATHER!)
All that's missing is some robots.
Why aren't there any ROBOTS?
Oh wait is Zurg a robot?
What kind of robot shoots puffy balls that go poing poing poing?



Funnily enough, I wasn't collecting toys when I first watched this.
But I was when I watched it the second time.
And the whole 'Mint Condition' leave in box thingy made me laugh.
Because I don't EVER keep my stuff in mint condition.
Transformers are meant to be Transformed, dammit!



Can't wait for Toy Story 3 next year
Apparently Andy goes to college,
And the toys are left neglected.
Should be a pretty interesting story.
Heck, I can't even wait to see Toy Story 1 and 2 again...
In 3D later THIS year!
WOOHOO!!!

PIXAR WEEK: For The Colony, And For Oppressed Ants Everywhere!

A Bug's Life.
Not A Review.
Pixar movie #2.
Came out same time as some other Ant movie.
Imaginatively called ANTZ.
Well, not like A Bug's Life was a better title.
But at least it was a better MOVIE.



OK, it's not as good as the later Pixars,
It's probably the least favorite of mine.
But I'd watch it again over any other non-Pixar cartoon.
It's got un-anatomically correct ants,
A great funny buggy script,
And a great ensemble of bugs,
Best of all, they've got TUCK AND ROLL!



I love those two cheeky pill bugs.
They don't say much,
But everything they do,
Everything they say (however intelligible)
And THAT cheeky grins...
They're awesome!
They're in my top five Pixar characters EVER!



There's also a real evil bad guy.
A grasshoppper named... er... Hopper.
He's probably THE most evil bad bug in a Pixar movie EVER.
More treacherous than Stinky Pete.
More sinister than Snakey Randall.
More villainous than Super-Villain Syndrome.
More despicable than Cheating Chick Hicks.
More cruel than Toy-Destroyer Sid.



A Bug's Life may be the 'forgotten' Pixar movie,
And the animation is probably the least jaded of the ten.
But it proved that Toy Story wasn't a flash in the Pan.
The movie is funny, witty and charming,
The bloopers at the end were brilliant as well.
It's still a damn awesome movie.
One you can watch over and over again.
And one of the best Pixar lines EVER is here:
"Don't look at the light!!"
"I can't help it.. it's so BEE-YOO-TI-FUUUL
