Insert Coin, Press Start... AND START WRECKIN'!

Wreck-It Ralph.
Not a review.
Video games heaven! WHEE!
Sonic! Street Fighter!
Tapper's! Pac Man!
PONG! FREAKING PONG!!!!
OMG all the awesome cameos!

If you love video games,
You'll love this movie.
Especially all the retro videogames.
The arcade ones most of all.
Brings back memories of Street Fighter marathons.
NOW I know what Ryu and Ken do after the arcade closes!

No, Fix-It Felix is not a real game (Yet)
Neither is Sugar Rush or Hero's Duty (Yet)
But they're all based on SOME other game.
And I wouldn't mind playing those games actually.
Ok maybe not Sugar Rush.
I suck at racing games.
Loved playing Daytona, but sucked at it.

Zangief! M. Bison!
Bowser! Dr. Robotnik!
That orange ghost from Pac Man!
Now THAT'S what I call a bad guy support group!

Q*bert!
%#*@&!
@#%$(*?
%#@#%^#...
Aaaawww, poor guy...

I loved watching all the cameos,
And also the video game references.
then they got to Sugar Rush,
And then all the sugar references were er... SWEET.
Heh heh.

Ngehehehe, Jane Lynch,
Awesome kickass character!
With a tragic backstory LOL.
The little kid a bit annoying,
but after awhile she's cute and grows on you.
She's er... SWEET!

I really hope they make a sequel,
And give those familiar old game characters more screen time.
I'd love to see a retro arcade / game console crossover,
Imagine, the Double Dragon twins vs. Altair and Ezio!
Or Zangief vs. Kratos!
Or Pong versus Tetris!
Er ok, maybe not.

10 Thoughts on Disney Buying Over Lucasfilm

1) First things first. A new Star Wars movie? One that is NOT directed by George Lucas? YES PLEASE.

2) Four BILLION dollars. Holy Ewok crap.

3) Pixar, Marvel Studios, and now Lucasfilms. Disney now owns three companies that have made some of my favorite films EVER. They better not screw them all up.

4) Does this mean that Leia is now officially a Disney Princess?

5) Oh man, the number of Star Wars Disney mashups they could do. Duck Vader? Darth Maus? Princess Mileia? Jar Jar Goofy? Daisy Armiduckla? Simbacca? Han Baloo? Buzz Lightwalker? Woody Wan-Kenobi? Dumb-3Po?

6) That's not even counting the rest of Disney's output. Solo White And The Seven Ewoks? Pirates of Tatooine: The Curse Of Jabba's Sail Barge? Chronicles of Bespin: The Jedi, The Sith And The Carbonite Freezer? Han Solo Montana? Jedi Academy Musical? Oh dear.

7) Star Wars Episode VII is scheduled for 2015. The same year as The Avengers 2, and hopefully, Justice League Of America. Let's hope the world doesn't end before then.

8) Since Disney also owns the rights to The Muppets, I'd LOVE to see Muppets Star Wars feature. They could call it Muppet Wars, or Muppets, Episode IV: A New Frog, or Muppets: Episode III: Revenge Of Miss Piggy.

9) If that new Star Wars movie really comes true, I hope they'll try something original, not something from the books or comics. Something set in the FAR future, hopefully (maybe longer than "Long long ago" or further than a galaxy far far away), just to distance itself from the already crowded and over-saturated universe.

10) Wonder how much say the Pixar guys, especially John Lasseter, had with the acquisition. Those guys LOVE Star Wars.

(ok, I know the title says "10 things", but I'm adding more as I think of more)

11) Is Lucasarts still around? If it is, PLEASE let Pixar make a movie based on Grim Fandango. Now THAT was an awesome game with an awesome premise.

News of Pixar's Demise Have been Bravely Exaggerated

Disappointed with Cars 2? Think Pixar is losing their touch?
Then click the poster for a look at the new trailer (More of an extended clip, actually) for BRAVE

Now THAT is what I call a Pixar movie!

Untangle Yourself For Rapunzel!

Tangled
Not a Review.
Known as Rapunzel here in Malaysia.
Which is the original name anyway.
Before Disney decided to change it to Tangled.
Because apparently they wanna appeal to young boys,
Who wouldn't watch a Disney princess movie called Rapunzel.
HAH!

No matter what it's called,
It's still pretty darn good.
Certainly more memorable than Princess And The Frog,
And harks back to some of Disney's best princess stories.

There's the pretty and feisty princess,
The dashing male lead (voiced by Chuck!)
The cute animal sidekicks (the chameleon is especially fun)
The cackling evil witch/mother,
And the Alan Menken songs!

At first I couldn't get over the fact that she CARRIES her hair around.
Like, isn't it HEAVY?
And doesn't it get DIRTY?
But it's MAGIC hair.
It has a song that heals things,
So there's probably a song to clean her hair,
A song to make it lighter,
And even a song that kills any kutu that moves in.

The male lead sounds too much like Chuck for my liking though.
Or maybe that's cos I just finished a 5-episode Chuck marathon.
But he was pretty decent.
Mandy Moore as Rapunzel was a little generic though.
Why do ALL the Disney princess seem to sound the same?

Oooh, but the songs were not bad.
Reminds me a bit of the old Disney fairytales.
Beauty & The Biskut, Aladdin, Little Mermaid...
It IS composed by Alan Menken after all.
And they were pretty fun as well!

If you like the Disney fairytales of old,
Then you'll probably like this.
It's charming, fun, and quite entertaining too.
The dialogue is fun, the animation is gorgeous,
The music is great, the story is decent (though a bit 'EH?' at times).
Yup, definitely lives up to the Disney princess stories of old.
Better than Princess And the Frog, in fact.

Disney has really found its way back,
Especially since John Lassater took over.
Pixar influence for the win!
First Bolt, then Princess And The Frog,
And now this.
What's next?
Some weird goofjob called Mars Needs Moms.
Oh dear...

Welcome Back, Disney Princess! Ribbit!

Princess And The Frog.
Not a Ribbit.
er.. I mean, Review..
RIBBIT!
Ribbit Ribbit Ribbit,
Ribbit Ribbit Ribbit....
Ribbit Ribbit!!!!!
RIBBIT RIBBIT!

It's the return of the Disney Princess!
The last one was... wah, Aladdin.
Way back in 1992.
No, Pocahontas, Hercules, Mulan all don't count.
Princess Jasmine was still a legit princess.
Am on the fence about the Little Mermaid though...

Anyway, this is also Disney's return to 2D animation.
Now they bought Pixar oledi,
And hired John Lasseter as their chief creative guy,
He's got Disney making 2D hand-drawn cartoons again.
Pixar's gonna do the flashy computer stuff,
While Disney is going back to fairytales stuff.
No more Chicken Little Brother Bear shit.
And all those lame-ass CG Pixar-wannabes.

So how was it?
It was surprisingly good.
The return to 2D animation was very refreshing.
It's like, a whole new world,
Even though it's actually really old school.
And even though the story was pretty predictable,
It had a lot of heart in it.

The characters were not bad too.
The Princess isn't your typical damsel in distress,
The Prince is not as kayu as most other Prince Charmings,
The usual cute comical characters are there,
And the bad guy reminds me of Ja'afar from Aladdin.
(OK, the frog kissing part is a bit far-fetched)
(And a lot of it felt like it had been done before)
(But hey, it's tradition!)

The music, the characters, the humour,
It's a real return to the roots of Disney's cartoons.
Movies like Aladdin, The Little Mermaid,
Beauty And The Beast, Snow White, Cinderella,
All captured your imagination
They made me love Disney cartoons.
And Princess And The Frog is a return to that nostalgic feeling.

If you loved the old Disney movies,
Especially their fairy talesand the Disney Princesses,
Then you'll like this.
Sure, it ain't Pixar,
And it ain't as flashy or glossy as the new CG cartoons,
But it's a return to what made Disney great in the first place.
And has a whole lot of heart in it.

Spider-mouse! The Incredible Dulk! Disney Marvel Crossovers!

I woke up this morning to the news that Disney has bought Marvel for USD BILLION.

Yes, believe it, people, the Mouse owns Spidey's ass now, and there's nothing we can do about it.

You gotta admit though, this throws up all sorts of possibilities. No I couldn't care less about all the business business bits. I'm talking about how seeing as Disney owns Marvel, Pixar AND their own Disney characters, think of all the FUN they could have with crossovers!

Imagine...

1) Spider-mouse - A mouse with unusually large ears is bitten by a HUGE radioactive spider (huge to the mouse, that is). He gains special powers - growing to human being-size, gains the ability to talk (in a VERY squeaky voice) and to stick on walls that are not covered with rat poison. With great powers come great merchandising rights, so Spider-mouse goes on to use those powers to drive a steamboat, woo Minnie Mouse, and sell merchandise by the billions. Also guest stars

2) The Incredible Dulk
A mild-mannered duck accidently flies into a gamma ray testing field while escaping some hunters, and is turned into a GIANT GREEN MONSTER (with a beak) who starts throwing tantrums and goes after the hunters yelling "QUACLK SQUESSSSH!!!!" Surprisingly, while the rest of his body turns green, his beak remains yellow. Also, he ends up wearing ONLY a shirt (no pants) which seems to magically expand as he grows bigger.

3) The Fantasia Four Four characters - a mouse, a duck, a goofy-looking dog, and an orange dog are one a road trip in an RV when it is hit by cosmic rays. They then get superpowers (as usual). The mouse gains the ability to command brooms and expand his ears like a rubber mat and calls himself Mr. Fantasia. The duck can turn invisible (but strangely, his beak remains visible). Goofy can turn himself into a living bonfire, which comes in real handy when the gang are roasting marshmallows during their road trips. And Pluto? He gets turned into an orange rock.

4) Plutolt
All his life, Pluto thought he was a superdog. He never seemed to die or get injured when he fell down wells, got hit by large rocks and anvils, or when he smashed into trees while chasing chipmunks. Then he gets lost one day and discovers that he was just a very lucky dog. He then has to find his way home accompanied by two talking chipmunks, an Arisocat, and 101 Dalmations.

5) Toy Story 2.5: The Attack of the Superhero Action Figures
A completely stand-alone story set in between the events of Toy Story 2 and 3, this movie sees Woody, Buzz and gang having to defend themselves and Andy's Room from an attack by Sid's new Marvel Legends superhero action figures. Features Rex the dinosaur headbutting The Incredible Hulk! Woody using his puppet strings against Spider-man! Buzz uses his karate-chop grip against Iron Man (with swinging punch action)! The Little Green Army Men gang up against the Wasp and Ant Man! Little Bo Peep using her staff to whack a plastic Emma Frost (with a face sculpt that looks like a transvestite)! And the greatest battle of them all... Mr. Potatohead taking on Spider-Spud!
